Monitor net speed in Xfce

After shifting from Gnome to Xfce one of the things which I missed a lot when browsing the net and when connected to VPN was the netspeed applet which was available in Gnome. So after a quick search I landed on the page askubuntu.com where I found the answer. There is a xfce4-netspeed-plugin already in development and can be downloaded and complied. New Year = New OS (Linux Mint 12)

I decided to start off the year 2012 by installing the latest version of Linux Mint 12 codenamed ‘Lisa’.
