Ever since my desktop broke down six months ago, I was without a Linux machine. Lately the urge to get back to Linux kicked in and immediately setting up a VM came to my mind. I had already used VirtualBox earlier so I got started and installed Linux Mint. During the installation I had setup the HDD size to be 8GB and dynamic which could grow if required. Within a week as Dropbox and Thunderbird sync started the free space came to zero very quickly....

What happens when someone flashes a torch right at your face? You would be blinded for some while before the eye can adjust to the normal lighting around. This is what happens when we work on computers or laptops at night. The computer screens are normally set to emit very bright blue light which is suited for work during the day but as night arrives the computer screen would be brighter than the lighting around which strains the eyes and spoils the sleep when one goes to sleep after working on computer....

This blog is a self managed installation of WordPress which means that the overall responsibility of taking backups and ensuring that the blog is always up and running rests solely on my shoulders. So the first task was to ensure that I have a backup of the blog, the second was to have it in a cloud service so that I can restore it easily in case of any issues. During my search for an easy and quick way of making backup for my WordPress installations I came across ‘WordPress Backup to Dropbox’ (WPB2D) which is an extension for WordPress which makes use of the cloud based folder sync service ‘Dropbox’ to store the backup....
